On Feb. 22, for the first time in his career, the renowned Greek singer Giannis Parios gave a concert in Istanbul in the presence of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
The event was organized by the Amateur Theater Group, the Greek Association Support of Community Foundations, and the Athletic Association of Pera.
It took place at the Lütfi Kırdar Convention & Exhibition Centre. Among others in attendance were Hierarchs of the Throne, the Armenian Archbishop Aram Atesian, the Consul Generals of Greece in Istanbul Victor Malingoudis and Athanasios Astrakas, Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the President of Turkish travel agents, Başaran Ulusoy, as well as many members of the Greek, Turkish, Armenian, and Jewish communities of Istanbul.
Parios was accompanied by accomplished Turkish artists who combined with him to give a dazzling performance that pleased the audience. The troubadour of love interpreted all his popular hits accompanied by a large orchestra, and had his fans humming along with him for over two hours. He said he would return to give another performance at some time.
